On Tuesday, the University of Colorado at Boulder announced a zero-waste and carbon-reduction initiative that will be implemented this football season. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Folsom Field will become the first major sports stadium in the nation, professional or collegiate, to become a zero-waste stadium. Through carbon offsets, renewable energy credits, recycling and a partnership with White Wave Foods, CU has the resources to recycle and compost at least 90 percent of the waste generated at football games.
