Joan Boykin has been named executive director of The Organic Center based in Boulder, a research institute focused on the science of organic food and farming. Boykin, president of Boykin Marketing & Public Relations in Boulder, has more than 25 years of marketing, business development and leadership experience. She will spearhead the center's mission of advancing and communicating science to document and expand the environmental and human health benefits of organic food and farming. The Organic Center, a nonprofit organization, also announced that organic food industry veteran Mark Retzloff has been named chairman of the board, filling the position of previous chairwoman, Michelle Goolsby, former executive vice president for Dean Foods Co., who will remain a member of the board of directors.
